Natalia Provatas was born in Los Angeles and raised by a Puerto Rican mother and Greek father. Aside from writing personal essays, she is also a filmmaker. In 2010, she made a short dark comedy called "Canary Suicides"—based on the art of Catherine Coan—which won the audience award at Holly Shorts in 2010, and played at SXSW in 2011. Most recently she co-wrote and directed a web series called "Lazy Actress," currently in post-production. By day she works at Dreamworks Television as a script coordinator.
