A good-looking mission from God

When a shirtless man with chiseled abs and smoldering eyes is staring at you, your first thought probably isn't about his religion (or yours for that matter).
Chad Hardy, a sixth-generation Mormon, wanted to change all that with his "Men on a Mission" calendar. He featured a shirtless Mormon missionary each month with a quick biographical sketch (religious beliefs, not turn-ons). A little beefcake never hurt anybody, right?
Wrong. On Sunday, he was excommunicated by The Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter Day Saints, which apparently felt that the calendar was not the best way to win over converts. With close to 10,000 copies sold, Hardy could make the case that Mormonism is being seen in a whole new light. One that rhymes with Rippendales.
The calendars are still available with the 2009 edition slated for release in September. It's your choice if you want to worship false idols, but you could do a lot worse than Mr. October.
