For Minnie Driver, a day at the beach is no picnic

It almost sounds like a bad ‘60’s beach movie: Movie stars (played by Frankie and Annette, of course) are enjoying a relaxing surfside afternoon, when out of nowhere a rabid horde of photographers surround them, snapping away willy-nilly. Just when things are getting out of control, the poor stars are saved by a do-gooding gaggle of ass-kicking surfers. End scene.
Actually, it all happened pretty much that way, though the stars were a pregnant Minnie Driver and Colin Farrell, along with his small son. The trio were on the sand at Paradise Cove in Malibu, though the paradise quickly turned into a nightmare when the paparazzi moved in.
And then--local surfers to the rescue; the wave of beach boys went at the photogs tooth and nail, dragging the annoying shooters into the water, cameras and all. “Whilst I don't condone the violence at all, I think they (surfers) were just defending people trying to have a normal afternoon,” offered Driver. “It didn't stop the guy from selling his pictures for $80,000, but, hey, maybe a punch in the mouth was worth it for him.” Cowabunga.
