Though it may be difficult to get a college logo on a thong, the worlds of high-priced underwear and school pride have collided. Thirty-two establishments of higher learning have forged a deal with Victoria’s Secret to co-brand the company’s spanking new PINK line of hoodies, t-shirts and intimate apparel, including UCLA, the University of Alabama, UC-Berkeley, and notorious party school Harvard.
Yet not everybody is happy with the idea, specifically, the stodgy, sexy-panty-hating University of Minnesota, which is taking steps to back away from the deal. According to school officials, there was a bit of “miscommunication” (what could possibly be miscommunicated about what Victoria’s Secret is all about?); seems “the clothing line was not in step with [the U of M’s] values and focus.” Tell that to the frats. The school also has a problem with “the reputation and image of Victoria's Secret,” claiming “body image” issues.
Well, it does get cold up there in Minnesota, and they do love their buffets…maybe coeds in skimpy underwear and the great white north just don’t mix.
