Less Is More for Mr. Big

Chris Noth spouts off on his personal taste in lingerie

Among other scintillating tidbits, this is what HBO’s official Sex and the City website reveals about the beguiling Mr. Big: “For four seasons now, we've kept him in our sights and sighs. For years he has been in and out of Carrie's life. But what does she really know about Mr. Big? This man of mystery has tried to keep us at arm's length, but we've managed to figure out a few things.”

Here's something you don't have to figure out: The man behind Mr. Big is making no mystery of his feelings when it comes to a staple of the SATC wardrobe, lingerie. “I'm not into Victoria's Secret so much,” stated Chris Noth, star of the much-anticipated film version of the hit show. “I find it over the top. I like subtlety and I like elegance. I think their things are gaudy and they are really trying too hard. If I could make a fashion statement, I think that Victoria's Secret looks to me like somebody who is putting on too much make-up. It's too gaudy, man.”

One can almost imagine Big Chris carelessly flicking away a butt as he utters that final “man,” though that’s probably a bit more Det. Mike Logan than suave Mr. Big. “I mean, come on take it easy, you don't have to have a fuckin' bouquet of flowers on your underwear,” pleaded utilitarian Noth, who, in mid-rant, finally realized he should perhaps shut his Mr. Big mouth. “Sorry Victoria's Secret; I hope they're not one of our sponsors!”
