A few decades ago, something called the Midwest Teen Sex Show would have been an 8mm loop sold strictly through the mail in a plain brown bag to hopeful, panting pervs. In 2008, it’s a video podcast hosted by a 28-year-old mother of three in Waukesha, Wisconsin that boasts 65,000 subscribers through iTunes and other podcast subscription services.
Said host Nikol Hasler, firmly based in Red State world, offers a surprisingly non-religious, Blue State lowdown on young humping and all that goes with it. Hasler, a product of a teen pregnancy and subsequent foster care, became bumped up prior to her freshman year in college and dropped out after one semester. She was living in a homeless shelter when she gave birth to her first child. And, based on lack of birth control, she states that two of her three children weren't planned.
That was nine years ago. These days Hasler espouses on topics like The First Time, The Older Boyfriend and Female Masturbation.
“It's cathartic for me. It's a way for me to finally turn what was once something very negative about my life into something very positive,” she says. “Part of what's translated into this show is my own desire to kind of shake kids and say, 'If somebody had come around and said, 'Come on, these ideas are completely wrong,' then I would have been listening more."
