Covering “love songs” penned by questionable suitors (R. Kelly, Michael Jackson, Phil Spector and Ike Turner among them), Shivaree places its tongue firmly in cheek. Still, certain interpretations are worthy of something deeper than humor. Singer Ambrosia Parsley’s sexy, slinky voice haunts on "Half On a Baby" and on the electro-pop rendition of "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough." "Looks that Kill" receives an inspired lounge-pop vibe. While not all songs are as intriguing, the concept is admirable.
