A "Model" Robot?

You May Be 95 Lbs., Robot Lady, But You've Got Wicked Man-Hands

Posted by Jen Wang & Diana Nguyen at March 16th, 3:00pm | Style

Our pals at disgrasian let us know today that Japanese researchers unveiled the HRP-4C robot Monday, at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology outside Tokyo. Her creators, who have intended the robot to be used for entertainment purposes, said that her look is manga-inspired.
"If we had made the robot too similar to a real human, it would have been uncanny," said one of the inventors, humanoid research leader Shuji Kajita.

And by "uncanny," we're guessing they mean "pervy" and "ewww."

One thing that's realistic about the HRP-4C, who will walk in a fashion show later this month, is her weight. She tips the scales at 95 lbs., which is apparently the average weight of a Japanese woman.

Needless to say, we already HATE the skinny bitch.

Must Have Alexander Wang!

Everyone could use a little lift, at least when it comes to height

Posted by Lillian Lee at February 13th, 8:00am | Style

Alexander Wang takes over the world, one foot at a time. His cult-like following has something new to chase: his new shoe line being launched this spring.

We’ve been hearing and reading all about the recession, and shopaholics have justifiably felt more than just a twinge of guilt pulling out that plastic card. But regardless of our current financial struggles there are some things that come into ones life that are just too good to pass up, recession or not. So it may mean skipping out on an appetizer, an extra bottle of wine or doing your own weekly manicures, but it will all be worth it to own a pair of these new must-have Alexander Wang platforms.

Truly “exclusive” with only 5 styles and a limited quantity being launched, there are already waiting lists at stores for customers who are in the know. With a sea of girly gladiator sandals being offered up from everyone, these platforms personify what we’re truly feeling: dark, edgy and just a bit restless for change. Timed to perfection, the shoes will be in-store just in time for New York Fashion Week where everyone is out to see and be seen. Is the $575 price tag making guilt rear its ugly head? Well, there’s no judgment here.

Waisting Away Your (Male) Muffin-Top

Guard your girdles ladies, men are moving in

Posted by Sharon Hall at November 20th, 1:30pm | Style

Alright, it's official, we're starting to worry.  There is a seriously disturbing trend in men's products lately.  Of course we all know about the murse and yesterday we found this on Gizmodo for men's 'moobs'  but now things are getting just a tad out of control.

Coming to a store near you is the "Anti Muffin Top Elastic" underwear for men.   An excerpt from the release describes  " (the elastic)...will give men a sleek, sexy waist line while wearing the underwear.  Also contrast stitching in vibrant red as been added to the waistband of the product in order to give it a more powerful look."  Powerful?  Why do they need a waistband to look "powerful"?  Now, what's below it - that's a different story.

Men's muffin tops - is this really an issue? Are so many men wearing low rise, skinny cut jeans that they need something to rein in their overflowing flesh?  Last time we checked out the beach, or frankly any bar, men didn't seem to mind their gut hanging over.

We cannot wait for the next manly invention....we're thinking some type of disguised carrier for their erection pills.  Oh wait...

These Boots Are Made for Hoping

Will Michelle wear these family-named boots?

Posted by DAME at November 11th, 11:00am | Style

We’ve shown you Obama rings and Pitbull Mom lipstick.  Now, we bring you Obama boots.  Yep, for you politically fashion-conscious women, shoe brand Coclico unveils a rather gorgeous gray boot out for this season and it’s named after our newly elected president. And how did the name come about – we read that the designer is French and since she can’t vote, she designed and named the boot after Obama. Sound familiar?  Those francais are certainly feeling l'amore for our new guy.

So, when you’re feeling hopeful or want to make a change, or watch more footage of people celebrating that still makes you teary-eyed, these are what you should put on.  Too bad there is no recession price break - $535.

Yes We Can... In Any Language

French artists translate the Obama mantra

Posted by DAME at October 15th, 11:00am | Style

We covered dressing to show your political persuasion (Party Dressing) and brought you highlights of questionable sequined ensembles replete with hats from the DNC (The Non-Insider Inside the DNC ).  And who can forget the ugliest rings we've ever seen (In the Political Ring).

So, with all the political fashion choices out there, you've probably had your fill of the latest and greatest T-shirts.  We had, until we came across French graphic design group, agentactif, who started the project Yes We Can Around the World.  They've created an innovative design of Barack Obama's face with Yes We Can translated into a ton of different languages - Hindu, Korean, French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Hebrew, Vietnamese and more.  Started as a simple project to showcase world support for Obama, they've partnered with several print on demand apparel sites where people can pick virtually any style of shirt/sweatshirt/tank to put the translation of your choice on.  Our fave is the super sheer women's v-neck t-shirt at zazzle.com.
