About DAME

DAME is the brainchild of Founder, Jennifer Reitman. Like many Dames you may know, she woke up one day and decided it was time to make her passions a priority, and share them with like-minded women. With DAME, her creative instincts-nurtured by 15 years of marketing and media experience-finally have a permanent place to call home.

DAME heralds a paradigm shift in women's media. Despite the sheer numbers of media properties out there, a core audience of women remains who don't see themselves in any of them, be it because of age, interests or just plain attitude. DAME authors a unique new agenda that reaches out to this audience.

DAME delivers relevant content in an alternative voice. Our founder said it best. She wanted DAME to be "something that felt like the conversations I was having with my friends. Something really smart, fast-paced, and sharply cheeky." DAME meets all this criteria, while engaging readers in intelligent dialogue about lifestyle issues, politics, news items, beauty and fashion.

DAME is a local resource for busy, urbane women. Our extensive city directories foster a community of like-minded, knowledgeable, resourceful Dames. We give the inside scoop on everything from playgroups to pedicures, massages to mechanics, accountants to acupuncture, and encourage our audience to contribute their own insights.

We're excited to break the mold in women's media, and start an unprecedented dialogue with Dames everywhere.


About the Founder

Jennifer Reitman is the daughter of a publishing and advertising veteran, who passed his extensive know-how onto her. But she also owes her inspiration for DAME to the main Dame in her life - her mother.

Prior to launching DAME, Jennifer was a publishing consultant who provided financial, strategic planning and operations services for a variety of independent web and print media companies. Her list of accomplishments also includes a position as West Coast Publishing Director for H&S Media (Mary-Kate and Ashley Magazine), where she managed the day-to-day operations of this 700,000-circulation magazine.

In the late '90's, Ms. Reitman was the principle of 931 Media, a boutique custom publishing company whose clients included Quest Media (Quest Magazine), hookt.com, Far & Wide Travel Corporation, and soundbreak.com. At Raygun Publishing, Jennifer oversaw the day-to-day consumer marketing and brand strategies for the company's two magazine titles (Raygun and Bikini). And as Director of Special Projects for KBA Marketing, a lifestyle marketing company, Jennifer helped develop field, event and loyalty marketing programs for many of KBA's clients, including RJR Reynolds, UDV Spirits, Cadillac, HBO and General Media. Additionally she helped launch the company's contract magazine Sweater, and managed the merchandising programs for the title's advertisers.
