To Have and To Brawl

Here is yet another reason to have a destination wedding.

The fall wedding season is upon us, and you know what that means - champagne, vows, 80s music and a large-scale drunken melee.

At around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, two different wedding parties got into a serious, fist-throwing, body-decking brawl at the bar of the Sheraton Society Hill in Philadelphia. Between 75 to 100 people were involved, the police had to call for back-up no less than three times and a 15-year-old boy captured the moment on his cell phone and posted it on YouTube.

At least one guest/troublemaker has been arrested for assaulting a police officer and two others have been cited for disorderly conduct. One report says “police said that alcohol may have played a role in the brawl.” From the looks of it, that would be a safe assessment. Sadly, the uncle of one of the brides died of a heart attack shortly after the incident, but apparently he was not involved in the fight.

So, rest up, you never know when the start of happily-ever-after will turn into hand-to-hand combat.
