Korean Study Says Eunuchs Live Longer
It is well known that women have longer lifespans than men, but that may all be changing soon. A Korean study shows exactly how men are able to outlive females, and the only thing men have to do is part with their testicles.
Researchers investigated the court of the Chosun Dynasty (1392-1910) in Korea where boys were castrated and served as guards and servants. They even had families and were allowed to adopt children. While the average lifespan of their king was 47, eunuchs lived between 14-19 years longer that their “intact” male counterparts.
The study released in the journal Current Biology noted that female mammals tend to live longer than men with balls because testosterone weakens the immune system. So illnesses like heart disease rise drastically.
Not sure if this is the answer Ponce de Leon was looking for when he went in search of the Fountain of Youth. But it’s good news for Justin Bieber.
