Russell Crowe Rescued by Coast Guard

The Oscar-winning actor says he was not lost, vows to beat up anyone who says otherwise.

Actor Russell Crowe, best known for making good movies and throwing telephones at people, was picked up by a U.S. Coast Guard boat and ferried to shore, according to the Associated Press. The Oscar winner was kayaking with a friend. When it became too dark to navigate, they headed for shore about 10 miles east from where they had set out on Long Island. Fearing they might be descended upon by feral "Jersey Shore" cast members, Crowe called out for help to a passing Coast Guard vessel, which gave the actor a lift home.

No one was injured, which is not something you always get to write in a Russell Crowe news story. The actor, according to the Coast Guard, was grateful and friendly, and did not repeatedly ask the crew for a map he could rip up or a cartographer he could punch.

Crowe later tweeted:

No, no, no, of course, you weren't lost, Russell, of course.
