Thinking About Women Makes Men Dumber
Recent research suggests that straight men’s cognitive performance is hampered after an interaction with a woman
Men are like cartoon cats after all. When they see a hottie their hearts beat visibly in their chests, their eyes pop out and then they do something dumb like whistle or step in front of a bus.
A study from Radboud University in the Netherlands suggests that men start losing their minds as soon as they anticipate interacting with women.
Worth noting:
- The same is not true of women interacting with men
- These effects occur even if men do not have information about the woman’s attractiveness
- No actual interaction is necessary for male mental impairment to occur
So much behavior can be tied to evolutionary advantage. So what good can come from men being dumb? Our guess: Men are wired to mate, so maybe acting a little foolish takes the edge off the creepy factor.
